THE STORY OF MOUNTAIN WORKS

Behind Mountain Works you'’ll find a group of people from different parts of the world. More than 30 years of manufacturing and distribution with some of the very best have taught us many incredible things. During this time, fabrics, products, attitudes and conditions have changed enormously.

Mountain Works / Ocean Works is the result of our collective experiences, joined to form a new project since 2002.

We make functional clothing related to the mountains and the sea. Our designs are clean, based on our Scandinavian heritage, combined with technical fabrics and updated manufacturing methods. Most of our styles work just as well in town as on the mountain or at sea.

The Mountain Works and Ocean Works lines are distributed through outdoor, marine and lifestyle stores in the Scandinavian markets as well as in a few selected places in other parts of the world.

OCEAN WORKS ON THE ATLANTIC

Ocean Works' new hero is named Dan Dytch,

an experienced sailor from England.

Dan is participating in the 2011 edition of

MINI TRANSAT, a single-handed sailing race across the Atlantic Ocean. The event begins in September 2011 in La Rochelle, France and goes via Madeira to Salvador de Bahia in Brazil.

The race has a maximum of 85 participants, who qualify for the race during an extended period of time.

Mini Transat will be sailed in small, extreme boats whose major principal limitation is a boat length of 6.5 metres. Almost everything is permissible, meaning numerous specacular innovations.

Most boats are equipped with a swing keel, double rudders and proportionately enormous sail areas and so on.

Ocean Works is collaborating with Dan on many levels, among others with product development, where he provides invaluable feedback and contributes with ideas on new technical sea clothing.

A separate collection with the boats name and MINI TRANSAT will be produced in limited editions and distributed through Dan's network as well as through retailers in several countries. Read more at www.nightfeverminitransat.blogspot.com

This could be one of the warmest, waterproof jackets in the world. We have chosen a very high quality Goose Down, baffle (box) construction, waterproof fabrics, taped seams and water resistant zippers.

Many great features such as a Napoleon pocket, an adjustable down-filled hood, warm lined hand pockets and extra insulation in certain areas.

By the way, its name has nothing to do with world politics.

MONSTER DOWN PARKA

The Monster Down Parka was made for extremely cold weather. It is filled with plenty of goose down and the shell fabrics are waterproof and durable. It has a removable fake fur brim around the downfilled hood, fleece lined handwarmer pockets and many other clever features yet to be discovered.

A pair of solid sailing shorts in durable Epic® fabric. They may look like normal shorts, but these can do a lot more when it comes to water and dirt resistance. SIMPLE JACKET

The Simple Jacket is not quite as simple as it sounds. It has all the functions of the Hood Jacket except the hood.

Rugged, windproof, water repellent (but not waterproof) and highly breathable. Well-placed pockets and reflective logo on the front placket.

RETRO SMOCK

The Retro Smock is a simple windshirt that goes on top of anything. The surprise comes from its water resistant and highly breathable fabric.

The Smock has a front zipper opening and one single storage pocket on the left chest. It couldn't be simpler.

REVERSIBLE DOWN JACKET

Turn it inside out and get a completely different look. All unnecessary features have been removed to save weight.

It has a relaxed fit to fit over other garments, while its pack size is minimal. The chest pocket is also a stuff pocket for the entire garment.

The shell fabric is mid shiny and comes in many beautiful colours.

This is a seriuos outdoor piece that has gained respect in fashion as well.

Many kids wanted the Nations Down Parka last year. So, we made one for the kids this season.

It has more narrow down channels than the Kids Fat Boy, making it a bit lighter.

Still, you will find all the pockets and features like the bigger version, including the exchangable flag badges. The hood is detachable with press buttons for extra safety.
